Have you heard of the PACE Program, Property Assessed Clean Energy, that was originally designed to allow property owners to make energy-efficient improvements to their property without a large up-front cash payment?

Unfortunately, there were many situations where the homeowner was not properly informed that this would cause their property taxes to increase tremendously, for many years to come. Some people were told by unscrupulous marketers that it was a free-government program and some contractors didn't finish the work or did shoddy work but got paid by the PACE Administrators anyway. This presents a precarious situation for seniors on reverse mortgages, too.

Bet Tzedek Legal Services in Los Angeles as well as Public Counsel and several Los Angeles law firms filed a lawsuit against Los Angeles County. In this Zoom webinar, Bet Tzedek attorney Sparky Abraham and Elder Abuse Advocate Alisa Anderson will discuss this ongoing litigation, the 8 grounds for illegality, where people can file complaints, the clinic and volunteers they have put in place to help people, especially seniors, complete the Assessment Appeal Applications and how to file them with the Appeals Board. This must be done by the end of November, hence this public service announcement special webinar.
