Shari McHugh has over 25 years successful experience in government affairs and public relations. She is currently a partner in the lobbying firm of McHugh Koepke Padron Government Relations. Shari’s lead clients include the American Beverage Association, Association of California Life and Health Insurance Companies, Californians Allied for Patient Protection, California Credit Union League, the Hartford, the National Association of Insurance & Financial Advisors of California, the Pacific Association of Domestic Insurance Companies, the Pechanga Band of Luiseno Mission Indians, and Warner Music Group.
This course provides an overview of Worksite benefits that include defining the need, definition of worksite benefits, enrollment methods, marketplace trends, overview of the products typically offered, and benefit communications firms and their role in the worksite benefits marketplace. It is necessary to understand how to encourage employers to offer worksite benefits and to communicate the value they can add for employers and their employees.

About the Speaker:
Matt Hall is MetLife’s Voluntary Specialist Director of the West for Regional Market. In this role, Matt is responsible for supporting Account Executives on sales of MetLife’s suite of Voluntary Products. He assumed this position in March of 2021. Prior to this role, he worked as an Account Executive for MetLife in Dallas where he covered the East Texas territory.
From 2016 to 2020, he was a Worksite Benefit Specialist for the Alera Group where he supported the build-out of their Voluntary Benefits practice. In this role, he managed RFPs and the analysis of proposals to make benefit recommendations to clients for partner firms across the country.
In addition, Matt served as a Benefit Consultant for Aflac from 2014 to 2016. In this role, he developed and managed a pipeline of business both directly with employers and through broker partnerships.
Matt earned a Bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University. He also holds Voluntary Benefits Specialist (VBS) and Group Benefits Disability Specialist (GBDS) designations from the Hartford School of Insurance.
About the Speaker:
Stan, a Vietnam Era vet, attended Chapman University after the military. He soon began careers supporting people in both the entertainment and fitness industries before becoming an insurance professional. He opened his insurance brokerage over 40 years ago, adding LTC Insurance to his portfolio of Life and Disability products. A premier specialist in LTCI for over 25 years, Stan has taught Licensing courses for LTCI as well as other CE courses for LTCI Continuing Education (CA) courses. He receives numerous invitations to speak across CA and the US, addressing financial planning, legal, senior, accounting, university, and Medicare conferences. He holds membership and board positions in CAHIP & NABIP chapters, fiduciary groups, and estate planning associations. He helped advise the CA Task Force for LTC and served on the Task Force for the Partnership LTCI in CA.
Aside from his personal production and teaching seminars, Stan coaches financial advisors through the complexities of LTC Insurance. SDIINS assists with education, marketing, and product knowledge. Stan loves what he does… All client proposals are client-centered and individualized. Stan often confers with clients’ financial advisors to ensure that the coverage purchased reflects clients’ needs, budgets, financial plans, and lifestyle requirements.
SDIINS represents all LTCI carriers in CA, et al and prepares custom quotes for Traditional and Hybrid (Accelerated Benefits). The agency advocates for consumers to create a Long-Term Care Plan--identifying and consolidating important documents in one place – before the need for care arises. This may include insurance, estate plan, retirement and financials, veterans’ papers, Healthcare Directives, POA’s, and a record of clients’ wishes. SDIINS also helps to facilitate Life Settlements
Stan is married to Marcia, also an active producer and corporate officer. While their daughter, Shawna was growing up (USC Doctor of PT, 2016, ATC - NBA G-League ‘23-‘24), Stan was active with WAGS Softball, Agoura HS Girls’ Water Polo, and the Yarrow YMCA. Stan and Marcia have also chaired various committees with local chamber of commerce associations and charitable organizations.
